Day 15 of Capture Your Grief (in memory of Freddie Leigh Bromley) and the subject title today is ‘Wave of Light‘.
Tonight I attended the Guernsey Wave of Light Service at Forest Church. This service was part of the worldwide Wave of Light where people are lighting candles at 7pm for Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Day.
Freddie had many candles lit for him by family but mine is third down on the right. It was a lovely short service by Linda Le Vasseur. I especially loved that the service words included grandparents, aunties, uncles, sisters and brothers making everyone feel a part of it.
Following the service some of my family went back to my mother’s house where we lit a candle in the garden by the Hibiscus Blue Bird we planted in Freddie’s honour.
We then lit Freddie’s candle and had it burning whilst we chatted over dinner. This candle is lit as part of a ritual in memory of Freddie.
At the dinner table was the blue bird in the centre piece which the florist added to our funeral flower arrangement. We didn’t ask for it and she didn’t know the significance of it to us but birds/blue birds have become a recurring sign to us since Freddie’s passing, as mentioned in my Beliefs blog post.
Freddie was definitely there with us tonight.
