These are lyrics from ‘Wake Me Up‘ by Avicii. This song is particularly poignant for us because it came on the radio whilst my husband and I were driving to visit churches to pick one for Freddie’s plaque.
As soon as we heard it we turned up the volume, held hands, sang and wept at the words – especially this verse. I think you’ll know why. I love this song as it has a really good feel about it and when you listen to the lyrics in relation to what has happened to us with Freddie passing, it takes on a whole deeper meaning. This will be his tune.
I also love the phrase life’s a game made for everyone and love is the prize because life is a game and you can be thrown out the game at any time, but everyone is a winner because love is your prize. We lost Freddie at the start of the game but we are still winners because we found love for a child and a stronger love for each other.
The sunset behind the verse is taken from our bedroom window looking towards the west of the island. It shows darkness, light, a future, the end.
